Multidrive Limited, a SANARC company, was incorporated in 1990 to take over certain businesses handled at that time by the Karnaphuli Group.

The Land Rover franchise was secured in December 1990 and it resulted in considerable success being achieved in the defense sector, EU financed projects as well as the luxury sector. As part of a restructuring process the franchise was given up in September 2006 but Multidrive Limited continues to hold a minority stake in the new franchise Limited holder.

The Volkswagen franchise was also taken over by Multidrive Limited. In mid-2007 the franchise compounded it’s success in Bangladesh with the introduction of the up-market Touareg and the award winning Passat.

Multidrive Limited also imports and markets Constance Carroll cosmetics from UK.

The Daihatsu franchise is held under Motodrive Limited, another SANARC Company, and the Daihatsu market share of small 4x4 vehicles is perhaps one of the largest in the country.

An engineering and construction division was formed in 1996 to undertake various works, which included a venture where Multidrive supplied, installed, commissioned and handled over seven computerized vehicle test lanes for the Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA). This multi-million dollar project was financed by the ADB and was at that time the first such facility in the sub-continent. The construction division has since successfully completed base camp and drilling site development for international companies engaged in gas drilling operations in Bangladesh. It was also responsible for the construction of the SANARC Complex, the Group's head office, on prime real estate in the heart of Dhaka City.

Multidrive is also involved in general trading and in the promotion and execution of large-scale projects in the public sector. Most of these are in association with US, European and Far Eastern companies.

In 1999, SANARC Companies entered the medical sector when it secured a major contract in the public sector for one of its European principals, Esaote SPA of Italy. A new company, Medidrive Limited, was formed to handle this rapidly expanding business that now includes service and maintenance contracts. Today Medidrive represents various other companies including several from North America - SonoSite Inc, Life-Tech International Inc as well as Medispec. Additionally, Medidrive is engaged in the import, distribution and sales of diagnostic reagents for pathological tests.

In March 1996, Multidrive Limited became one of the first general trading companies in Bangladesh to secure the ISO 9002 accreditation. It was also the first Land Rover distributor in the world to achieve this. Motodrive United secured the same accreditation it in 1998. Medidrive achieved it in 2005.

The Directors of SANARC Companies are directly engaged in several other ventures including shipping, newspaper publications, real estate, general insurance, container depot, consultancy, stock brokerage and travel services.

SANARC enjoys a solid reputation in business and social circles in Bangladesh and is known and respected for promoting transparent dealings and transactions. Through its associated and related firms it is in a unique position to perform any service in any part of Bangladesh.
